WHELPING BOX
Our Whelping Box sits on a steel frame which has an adjustable shelf underneath one section of the box to allow for adjustment of temperature of the heating pad as the puppies grow. The step is made of hardwood flooring. When the heating pad is no longer required the box is removed from the frame and the nylon dowel is also removed so the puppies can climb in and out as they desire.
The box is made from a nylon product which affords easy clean up. The white caging sections are easily dropped for assistance during whelping and for cleaning of the box. The pig rail is made of 1 1/4" ABS piping. There is also an adjustable divider so Mom can be close to the pups but still get some rest.
The interior of the box is lined with hospital grade fleece which is attached with Velcro to the base of the box. This keeps the material in place so the puppies can't accidentally get under the fleece. It also allows us to remove it for cleaning when required.
The x-pen which is clipped to the caging provides a play and rest area while keeping out the other dogs and the cat. A blanket is draped over the caging and box for protection from drafts and to create a den for comfort and privacy.
